Any other interests outside of Football?

I love to go Fishing, I used to match fish before I had kids, but now they take up so much of my time, I only really go a few times a year, two things I do enjoy with the family is camping and Holidays.

How did you get into Walking football?

I work with Jason Putterill (club Secretary) and he got talking to me about it one day, he told me I should come down and have a kickabout. At the time I was really suffering from a severe lack of exercise, so gave it a go, I really enjoyed it and became hooked.

What do you enjoy the most about walking football?

I never really played any football after leaving school, so I'm now enjoying the camaraderie and sense of belonging to a great team like this one. Also I'm enjoying that I'm keeping fitter and having fun at the same time, it really is amazing how much fitter I feel since joining the club and training every week.

Is there any game or Training session that really stands out in your memory?

Two games stand out for me. My first game for the club was a friendly against Leverington, we thumped them about 7-1 (Maybe exaggeration). That gave me a really good buzz , but the best moment was my competitive debuts against Stamford Strollers and Hampton Blues Scoring in both games.

What do you hope to achieve in the future playing for the club?

Funny really as when I originally wrote this, It was to Win the Peterborough Division 2 title, which we did! So now I really do think we should aim as high as we can and play to win, I am really competitive (my apologies if this comes out in training sessions) so this season the main achievement should be to win Division 1 and why not! I also just want to play to the best of my ability and give all that I can for the team. I would love to emulate some of the appearance achievements set by others at the Club.

Quote from the Secretary Jason Putterill.

I have known Al from work for the best part of 25 years, I've always thought of him as good hard working person but also someone who likes to have a bit fun and loves a bit of banter. That Spirit he's brought with him to our club, as he says he can be competitive sometimes during training but does like to have a laugh and a Joke too.

On the Field in competition he's become an important part of the team and was an integral part of our title winning season with a good amount of goals and assists. We hope he carries on playing with the Club for many more years.
